After 10 years and 2,143 episodes, The View is bidding farewell to its current studio and embarking on an exciting new chapter. In a recent episode, co-host Sunny Hostin announced that the daytime talk show will be moving to a brand-new, state-of-the-art studio downtown, leaving its longtime home at the ABC Broadcast Center.
The View has had quite the journey when it comes to its filming locations. From 1997, when the show first launched, until 2014, it was filmed at the ABC Television Studio 23 in New York City, sharing the building with the iconic soap opera All My Children. However, in 2014, the show made the move to the ABC Broadcast Center, located at Broadway and 44th Street, where it has remained until now.
During the recent episode, Hostin expressed the bittersweet emotions surrounding the studio move, acknowledging the memories and history attached to the current set. “We’re sad to say goodbye, but we are thrilled to be moving to a brand-new studio downtown — brand-new, state-of-the-art — and we will see you there in September for the premiere of Season 28!”
The process of packing up and relocating the show’s set and equipment has been no easy feat. Hostin shared some lighthearted moments, joking about her co-hosts’ packing habits. “We’ve had to, for the past couple of weeks, box up things, get rid of things… We were allotted, each host, five huuge cartons. I took up two, Sara took up all five and was looking for more!” She also poked fun at Ana Navarro’s extensive shoe collection, quipping, “And Ana [Navarro], please don’t say that you were a purger, because I think you had over 50 pairs of shoes in your [dressing] room.”
The View’s new studio will be located downtown, offering a fresh and modern setting for the show. Hostin expressed excitement about the upgrade, stating, “We are thrilled to be moving to a brand-new studio downtown — brand-new, state-of-the-art — and we will see you there in September for the premiere of Season 28!”
The show’s current lineup of co-hosts includes fan-favorites Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Ana Navarro. With this talented ensemble, viewers can expect the same engaging conversations and dynamic interactions that have made The View a beloved daytime television staple.
As The View embarks on this new chapter, fans can anticipate a refreshed and revitalized show. The move to a state-of-the-art studio, coupled with the show’s exceptional cast, promises an even more captivating viewing experience. While it’s bittersweet to say goodbye to the familiar set, the excitement of the new studio in downtown New York City is undeniable. Viewers can look forward to the premiere of Season 28 in September, eager to see what the future holds for this iconic daytime talk show.
